Beyond “Lol Cats”: Fostering the political engagement of the Georgian blogosphere

The goal of this project is to foster the development of public, online political discussion in Georgia and increase the political impact of Georgia's blogosphere.

This project aims to raise the visibility of political discussion in Georgia by providing compelling and high-impact government information to the public in ways that are particularly suited to encouraging online public discussion, and enhancing the ability of leading contributors to Georgia's blogosphere to generate and spread ideas using this information and information they themselves generate.

The project will focus on generating information about two government areas that are of particular importance and general interest: Parliament, and government officials' income. In the case of Parliament, the project will result in an online portal, integrated with existing online resources about Parliament, that will serve as a forum for discussion of Parliament's business.

The project will also result in a usable database of income declarations by government officials which will be machine-readable and easily analyzable.
