TI is making a comprehensive assessment of the current situation on competition in the health care sector. The research aims at analyzing the market structure, and the effects of the current policy on the pharmaceutical market, the insurance sector, and the hospital sector. Important issues in this research are the ongoing privatizations of hospitals, and the level of competition on the pharmaceutical and insurance market.

A pressing problem which is often mentioned and needs attention is the increasing vertical integration of these sectors. Therefore, next to studying the sectors separately, TI Georgia focuses on the activities of the major companies in the respective markets, and the effects this has on the quality and access to health care services. The aim of this research is to acquire a full understanding of the current situation and developments, and to create a more transparent picture of the health care sector.
