Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia, Irakli Kvanchakhadze, did not disclose business interests, real estate and income in his asset declaration submitted in 2023.

Violation I: Irakli Kvanchakhadze did not disclose ownership of his 500 sq.m land plot in the town of Kojori and a 700 sq.m land plot in Tbilisi, registered in the name of his wife, Tamar Blagidze.

Violation II: Kvanchakhadze also omitted his business interests, notably his ownership of 16.25% of Edena LLC and 25% of Niku LLC. According to the GEOSTAT business register, Edena LLC has been engaged in economic activities over the past year. Following the law, public official is also obliged to disclose any income received from their companies – Kvanchakhadze has not declared income from Edena LLC.

Violation III: Irakli Kvanchakhadze did not transfer the right to manage his business to a third person, which constitutes a clear violation of the Law of Georgia on the Fight Against Corruption. According to this law, public officials are expressly prohibited from directly participating in business activities.

Violation IV: In his declaration, Kvanchakhadze omitted to report the salary he received throughout the previous year in his role as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia. Notably, this information was absent from his declarations of 2022 and 2021 as well.

Transparency International Georgia calls on the Anti-Corruption Bureau to look into Irakli Kvanchakhadze’s asset declaration and respond to violations in accordance with the law.
