Zugdidi Municipality implements new procedure of giving bonuses based on TI Georgia's recommendations
The City Council of the self-governing community Zugdidi Municipality has adopted the resolution on setting the procedure of giving bonuses to civil servants, based on recommendations proposed by Transparency International Georgia.
According to the resolution, a bonus will be given to the employees of local authorities of Zugdidi Municipality for a thorough and exemplary fulfillment of the duties, long-term and bona fide service, and/or carrying out the task of a special complexity or high priority.
What is more, the terms and conditions applicable to the payment of bonuses must be specifically and clearly stated, especially when it comes to the amount of a bonus, salary ratio and bonus/es given during the current year. A bonus amount should not exceed a servant’s salary.
Until now, the procedure of giving bonuses in Zugdidi Municipality was not regulated and bonuses were given without any justification, the fact which Transparency International Georgia raised several times and addressed with numerous recommendations.
Transparency International Georgia welcomes the decision of the City Council of the self-governing community Zugdidi Municipality. We believe that this is a significant step which puts an end to the existing bad practices, contributes to savings in the municipal financial resources and makes the expenses more transparent.
Transparency International Georgia calls on other municipalities to regulate the procedure of giving bonuses in the similar way.
