The Mayor of Mestia Municipality, Kapiton Zhorzholiani, has not disclosed his property as well as income received in the form of labor remuneration in his asset declaration [1] filed in February 2024.

Kapiton Zhorzholiani is the owner and co-owner of seven properties that he has not declared:

1. A land plot of 1,235 square meters and a house on it in the town of Mestia – co-ownership
2. A 57-square-meter apartment on Chubinishvili Street in Tbilisi, which he owns jointly with his wife
3. A land plot of 11,856 square meters in the Mulakhi village of Mestia Municipality – co-ownership
4. A land plot of 8,536 square meters in the village of Mulakhi in Mestia Municipality – co-ownership
5. A land plot of 11,000 square meters in the village of Mulakhi in Mestia Municipality – ownership
6. A land plot of 3,203 square meters in the Mulakhi village of Mestia Municipality – ownership
7. A land plot of 357 square meters in the town of Mestia – co-ownership

In his asset declaration, Kapiton Zhorzholiani did not indicate the remuneration for labor received as mayor in 2023.

According to the law on the fight against corruption, Kapiton Zhorzholiani, as mayor of Mestia Municipality, is obliged to fully disclose this information in his asset declaration. It should be noted that Kapiton Zhorzholiani also failed to declare his property and labor remuneration in the declaration [2] filed in 2023.

Transparency International Georgia calls on the LEPL Anti-Corruption Bureau to examine the violations identified in the asset declaration of Kapiton Zhorzholiani and to respond accordingly.
