An international advertising campaign recently launched by the government of Georgia has claimed that Georgia was "first worldwide in progress to combat corruption" and wrongly attributed this assessment to Transparency International (TI).
TI never made such a statement, which incorrectly interprets the results of TI’s Corruption Perception Index.
The advertisement in question was broadcast on the BBC and CNN in February. TI Georgia and the TI Secretariat both disputed the advertisement. A corrected version of the advertisement is slated to run on both networks.
TI is happy to assist the government of Georgia in using its data and assessments accurately to illustrate its achievements in the struggle against corruption.
