The decision of the Anti-Corruption Bureau is unfounded and aims to persecute the monitoring organization
As we learnt from the media, the Anti-Corruption Bureau decided to designate “Transparency International - Georgia” and its executive director Eka Gigauri as entities with “declared electoral goals”, and to apply to them the restrictions set forth in Chapter III of Georgia's Organic Law “On Political Associations of Citizens”. The decision has not yet been served to the organization or Eka Gigauri personally.
We declare that the Anti-Corruption Bureau's decision lacks both factual and legal foundation. “Transparency International - Georgia” and Eka Gigaguri have always been and remain committed to Georgia's European choice, as consistently maintained in all public statements. This choice is enshrined in Georgia's Constitution and aligns with the aspirations of the vast majority of the Georgian population. We operate within the framework of the Georgian Constitution.
We will wait for the service of the decision of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and will take appropriate legal steps thereafter.
