Georgia’s economic relations with China
Over the past 12 years, Georgia’s economic relations with China have grown significantly:
•Foreign Direct Investment (FDI): Between 2003 and 2012, Georgia received $132 million in FDI from China. This amount increased fivefold to $655 million between 2013 and 2024.
•Company Registrations: From 1995 to 2012, Chinese citizens registered 451 companies in Georgia. This number quadrupled to 1,893 companies between 2013 and 2024.
•Trade Turnover: In 2012, Georgia’s trade turnover with China was $640 million ($26 million in exports and $614 million in imports). By 2024, this figure had tripled to $1.916 billion ($303 million in exports and $1.613 billion in imports).
•Tourist Arrivals: In 2012, 7,633 visitors from China arrived in Georgia. By 2024, this number had increased twelvefold to 88,583 visitors.
