The Mayor of Senaki enables the companies of his uncle and cousin to win tenders worth more than GEL 38 million

19 May, 2025

JSC Archeopolis, a company owned by Demur Gadelia, the uncle of the Mayor of Senaki, Vakhtang Gadelia, has won 17 tenders totaling GEL 32,248,784 from the Senaki City Hall since Vakhtang Gadelia was elected as the Mayor. In 14 of these tenders, the company didn’t have any competitors, while in 3 cases, its only competitor was Indiko LLC, whose owner is the Mayor’s cousin, Ioseb Gadelia. JSC Archeopolis won the latest tender, with a value of GEL 3,496,606, in May 2025.

As for Indiko LLC, this company has won 3 tenders with a total value of GEL 5,845,170 since Gadelia was elected the Mayor.

It is noteworthy that Vakhtang Gadelia previously served as a member of the Supervisory Board of JSC Archeopolis, while his deputy, Nana Zarandia, held the director’s position in this company.

We have written about these ties several times in the past, yet the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service either failed – or deliberately chose not – to identify possible signs of corruption in them.

It is these ties, the absence of meaningful competition and the tender conditions often tailored to a specific company that raise questions about corruption, fairness in procurement, and transparency. The tenders awarded by the Senaki City Hall reveal systemic issues that call for an impartial and objective investigation.
