The President gives Levan Kardava a gift of a land plot in Kojori at a price of GEL 1
On June 20, 2013, the President of Georgia released a statement accusing two former law enforcement officers, Davit Chkhatarashvili and Levan Kardava, of organizing torture. In the same statement, the President pointed out that he didn’t know these individuals personally and didn’t know who they were.
TI Georgia is studying pieces of property that the President transferred to private individuals through the direct sale method for a token price of GEL 1 in the years 2005-2011. During the study, we identified a list of private persons who received property free of charge and without any investment obligations. This list includes Levan Kardava, who was mentioned in the President’s statement. On the basis of the President’s Decree No. 16/11/05 of November 16, 2011, Levan Kardava received a non-agricultural land plot with an area of 2,501 sq. meters in Kojori for GEL 1 (Cadastral code: 81.01.06.325). This property is registered in the National Agency of Public Registry in the name of Levan Kardava and is also included in his asset declaration.
