Amicus Curiae Brief Concerning the Unconstitutionality of Elections Sent to Constitutional Court

21 November, 2024

Today, on 21 November 2024, the two My Vote Observation Mission organizations Transparency International Georgia and Civil Society Foundation sent their joint Amicus Curiae brief to the Constitutional Court of Georgia. The brief is about the constitutional lawsuit of the President of Georgia which she has filed recently with the Constitutional Court to have the 26 October 2024 Elections of the Parliament of Georgia and the Supreme Council of Adjara Autonomous Republic declared unconstitutional.

The authors of the Amicus Curiae brief share the key findings of the Presidential lawsuit that the 26 October 2024 elections were held with gross and mass violations of the fundamental principles of the electoral law enshrined by the Constitution of Georgia and the international human rights law, including those of universality, equality, secrecy of voting, and free expression of voters’ will, for which reason the elections should be declared unconstitutional. The Amicus Curiae brief is supported by the numerous evidence of electoral irregularities which have been collected by the My Vote observers on Election Day.
